Preliminary Task (Part 1)

For my first task I had to design and create a magazine which was suitable for the target audience of young people in school. First of all I came up with the name of the magazine - Just Jupiter. The connotations of this could be you don’t have to be a special person because this magazine is for just anyone. Then I took a medium close up of the head of house for Jupiter. I took a photo of her because see is in my target audience and has a connection to the house Jupiter. This gives an idea to the reader about who the magazine is aimed at. This is why I created the headline “leading lady Victor or Villain” to go with the photo so that people will understand why she is on the front cover. This is why the picture of the head of house has an angel halo and a devil horn. This relates back to the “leading lady Victor or Villain” headline. I also added some extra stories that will relate back to a school magazine, such as tips to survive six form, what is good and bad at school, where is the Jupiter mascot. This magazine issue is supposed to be autumn so I stated that this magazine was the September issue and I use a red fill on the title. The connotation of the colour red could also insinuate that the issue is in autumn because of the colour red. The use of the colours white and black are simple but effective as they do not clash with the back ground colours. I think that the original image that I took of the Jupiter head of house is a good picture but I do not think that the back ground is a nice colour and does not go with my theme of autumn issue. To improve I think that I should have edited the picture by changing the colour of the picture back ground or taking on a different background.
